IN MEMORIAM: JOHN (JACK) FELBER, April 12, 1945-Feb 16, 2008. The following message was received from Sue Felber, Jack's wife. "Jack passed away early Sat morning as a result of all the diabetes complications that could be listed. The last was a 2^nd heart attack that left his heart damaged and congestive heart failure took over. It is a relief to know that he's finally over all the suffering and fatigue that plagued him constantly. He died peacefully with his daughter Amy and me each claiming one of his hands to hold." Sue

Stumbled on to the page googling my name - figured that I could at least update things since my last entry was in 2002. I see that a few of our friends have passed on, kind of a scary thought, kick in the pants sort of thing, in the way that it reminds me I am 62 and not 42 anymore. I am still on the East side of Cleveland and I now have material for a book. My companion of 11 years and husband for 5 of those years is now a female having had SRS (sexual reassignment surgery) in Thailand in February. Boy, was I surprised !! Needless to say we are now living apart and proceeding to divide up the collection of goods and memories. The worst part is having my stepdaughter taken from me - I have raised her from the age of 5. This is breaking my heart. I don't remember anything in Home Ec. on how to deal with this stuff. Do you think that they teach them how to pick a good lawyer now in the family/life classes now due to the high divorce rate? Anyway I expect to be "footloose and fancy free" eventually and although I have joked about it I may just take my share of the settlement and buy that Winnebago and drive around the country ........anyone want to come along? I am still an old hippy at heart and I try in my small way to make a difference on the planet. Life has thrown me another interesting curve .............Hi to all from the last great class to graduate intact from Berea High. If the people I am going to mention are out there it would be nice to get a howdy! Wondered about: Diane Seckley, Lucretia Johnson, Babs Schwanberger, Craig Wahl, Danny Scozen, Mary Lou Ruple, for starters. I am also a friend of Bill W's and would absolutelly LOVE to hear from any other classmates that know him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IN MEMORIAM: Marilyn Wagner Culp - Jan 1945-June 2006. I received the following note from Pam Simon, District Alumni Director. "Marilyn Wagner Culp, 61, died Saturday in Miami after a seven year battle with cancer that had left her wheelchair bound for the past year. She attended the final game of the NBA semi-finals on Friday. Her husband Ron, is trainer for the Miami Heat and she got to see them make it to the finals for the first time, but became ill at the game and was taken to the hospital the following day where she died. Funeral services are being held at St. Hugh Catholic Church in Miami's Coconut Grove area. In addition to Ron, she has two girls, Amanda and Elizabeth. Her father, Charles Wagner, sister, 'Sam' Boyer live in Brook Park and her brother, Jerry Wagner, resides in Parma."

Some of you may remember my brother, James Russell Barton (BHS '61). For the record, Jim died in a plane crash while qualifying for his commercial rating in June, 1965. He had just completed 4 years in the Marine Corp. as an airborne navigator.

Well I did it, retired that is, I'am healthy and can afford it. Are you interested in Old Cars? Billy Simpson's hand built car - Built in Berea circa 1896!- will be on display at the Berea Historical Society all summer. Jim Jaworski is 'fixing' it up and the car should be in the museum the first week of May, we hope! It will be on display until November. I hope you will be able to stop by and check this vehicle out! Hello to all. I just wanted to let you know that Ginny Mellen's mother died about 3 weeks ago. She had not been in the best of health, but developed some particular problems and died within a week of her hospitalization. Ginny told me that she flew to be with her mother and sadly her mother died about the same time Ginny's flight landed. He was born in Youngstown on Sept. 29, 1945 the son of John "Jack" and Lucille "Lou" (Welsh) Southam. He studied in England at the British Museum. He was employed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for 28 years as a supervisor over employee relations. He is survived by his wife Patti "Trish" (Belles) Southam; son, Brendan of Enon; daughter, Erin Rasmussen of San Diego; granddaughter Kalika Rasmussen; brother, John Southam of Key Biscayne, Fla.; He was preceded in death by his parents. Services were held Jan. 10 in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Andrew's memory to the American Red Cross/Tsunami Relief Fund 1830 North Limestone Street, Springfield, Ohio 45503.

I am happy to let everybody know that the long awaited book I put together for my dad is finally available. "The Dead Sea Scrolls in Perspective" is dadÌs last book. (Dad, Dr. John C. Trever was the first American scholar to work on the Dead Sea Scrolls - in 1948.) Publishing technology had changed since dadÌs previous book, (The Dead Sea Scrolls a Personal Account - three editions). So it wasnÌt until I was able to digitize the entire book, that it could finally be published. It took me almost a year to prepare all the photos and text including necessary updates to bring the subject current. Unfortunately, dadÌs health prevented him from participating beyond the initial chapter writing in the Ì90s. It was a personal honor, therefore, to be able make this possible for my dadÌs legacy. Dad is no longer capable of signing books, so if you want a signed copy, I will be happy to provide my signature by the last Preface paragraph that explains my involvement. Hi Everyone, To the many people who have called and emailed us after Ivan hit our place in FL, many thanks for your support! We really appreciate your concern. Our area was the hardest hit by hurricane Ivan, and it did some serious damage. We were getting ready to move down there permanently, but were safe and sound in Ohio when it hit. Our place was (is) in Pensacola Beach on Santa Rosa Island, a small island in the Gulf of Mexico, South of Pensacola, and we got blasted. The "Pensacola News Journal", the local newspaper, called it "ground zero." A report I got yesterday said, "Pensacola Beach, as we know it, no longer exists." The island is submerged under sea water, and water levels are up to the second floor of the few still standing battered homes. Another report said, "most of the buildings on the beach have been toppled over, and it looks like a war zone." All the bridges to the island have either collapsed or sustained house-sized chunks missing and have been closed, so the only way to our island is by boat. A total of 4 major bridges in the Pensacola area have been closed because of severe damage. Our hearts go out to those who have lost their homes and everything they love, and there will be hardships in the aftermath. We feel for the families of those missing, like our neighbors, an elderly couple who decided to stay and ride it out. They are still searching for them. We won't know for weeks the extent of the damage. And to all of you who live in Florida and Alabama and Mississippi who've had so many anxious moments, close calls, and then devastation, we're with you! Please let us know how you're doing? This mailing is your order form to purchase the video Raines Production did at our Class Reunion on Saturday, August 2nd. I am still having a hard time settling back into a normal routine here at home after the fantastic reunion last weekend. A million thank yous to all the committee for their tireless work and long hours but I want you to know that you helped create memories that will be with all of us forever. Every event was so much fun and whoever missed it will only have to take our word for it. One side note: The bathrobe I wore for the skit was Kathy Skodis Krisko's.I wouldn't be caught dead in an old lady robe like that!!!! HA!!!! Love to all of you, Sue Adams

HATS OFF!!! for the absolutely great job done by the Reunion Committee! Hopefully, we are all back to our homes safe and sound with a head full of wonderful memories of this great event and the many friends and re-acquaintances we met over the 3-day program. I can only imagine the amount of work that it took to put it all together and have it come off so well. My first reunion since the 10th, I was amazed how many people I remembered and how good it was to reminisce the good old days with such wonderful friends. It was great that so many classmates were able to make it. I was only sorry that everyone from our class wasn't able to make it. Again, thanks to everyone involved in putting the program together. It was GREAT!!!

Hi, everyone. Just want to update you on Elaine. She has had the ET-tube removed which, of course, means she is off the ventilator and breathing on her own for 48 hours as of this afternoon. She continues with the feeding tube for the time being. Please continue with the prayers for Elaine and Chet. Things seem to be improving but she is not "out of the woods" yet. Prayers and positive thoughts are the best thing we can do for them at present. Thanx. I'll let you know how things progress.

Don't know how to begin...got connected through an ad on NPR and sucumbed to a moment of nostalgia. Of course I had to dig the yearbook out to refresh my memory (happens a lot now days :) ) I can't believe we wore those white gloves at graduation!!! From reading through the letters we have gone far and wide. I ended up taking a geographic cure, married a guy from Olmsted Falls and ended up on the east side. My family still packs blankets, flashlights and extra water when they cross the bridge in the flats and drive to the east side. For some reason I have been thinking about those last few years in High School.....don't remember a lot, think I had a good time. It would be nice to catch up with the gang and see how life has been treating the rest of the class. Had some good running buddies like Elaine Kayden, Diane Seckley, Babs Schwamberger to name a few. I was really happy to hear from Jane Pickering. If you have any complaints about this entry forward them to her - she gave me the link. The usual blurb - met a guy at the "Corral" who lived in Olmsted Falls, got married and had two really cool boys and got dragged back and forth across the county cause he decided to be a pilot. Ended up living in Eastlake and have been on the east side ever since. Got sober, got divorced and ended up in a career doing Chemical Dependency Counseling (having learned through AA how to make good come out of bad). Got married again, inherited a really super step daughter and the rest is history. It would be nice to catch up and see how life is treating you all.

Was so pleasantly surprised to receive a call from Patty Hood this morning. Have thought often of the '63 Class and wondered what has happened to many of you. After finishing Katie Gibbs in Boston, I ended up with my family in New Jersey, met my husband of almost 33 years, had one daughter, living in Boca Raton....no grandchildren. Retired 13 years ago to Vermont and built our "dreamhouse." Winters became much too long when we cut down on skiing...so even though I would never live in Florida or in a condo, we are extremely happy to be here on the beach. The web site is fantastic, and I have added it to my "favorites." Keep up the good work!

Anyway, we sold the "little house on the prairie" as I fondly called our 1930's era home in Englewood for a home in a gated, adult, golf course community in Aurora, Co. Love backing up to open space where the deer and the antelope truly roam....for now. We are "in" for 3 wks now and still settling. Don't even mind the extra travel time to work. How wonderful it has been to catch up on classmates! Patty has been great in keeping me informed with newsletters. My husband and I really wanted to come to the picnic and planned on it, but of course, the day before something popped up and we couldn't make it. I sure hope that we will be able to make it to the next event. Please let me know about the "prayer chain" - at times, I think it is something we all could use. For instance, my daughter who is 36 years old had a heart attack 2 years ago and "flat-lined" in the E.R. and we have just found out that she has diabetes! She is one of the strongest people I have ever known and really admire her determination but without a doubt, I know what prayer can do. Best wishes to all for a wonderful holiday season and a safe, healthy and happy New Year!!!

Thanks so much for whoever started this great communication tool. I couldn't wait to search my old yearbook to reconnect to all the somewhat familiar names I'm reading about. I love the pictures and how fun to see the changes. We have lived in Chicago, and Indianapolis but this is home now. Our 3 children all attended the University of Tennessee - I bet some of you recognize the name from famous football and other sports. In fact our youngest son decided he wanted to be a cheerleader there after high school and we had a fun year of travelling around. He is planning a wedding next May and lots of excitement around. Our daughter is travelling Europe now before attending graduate school at Bowling Green this fall. Our olderst son is starting a new job in pharmaceutical sales after working in insurance sales. He is looking at the marriage scene. Mike and I celebrate our 28th year together tomorrow. Just 28 years ago, after we were married in the afternoon, attended our 10 year class reunion. We got the prize for most recently married. Mike and I are both working in medical facilities in administration. My degree in home economics did allow me to teach in several communities, but I decided I needed a new career. (They have been married 34 YRS this month) Joe is trying real hard to battle bone cancer and is in a lot of pain. Hi, my name is Jim Williamson. I went to Roehm in 7th and 8th grade. I then went to berea h.s for 10th grade. I was scheduled to go to the high school in Brookpark the following year. I think the high school was Mid-park. In 1961 my folks sent me to California and I never got to graduate with my teen age friends. After joining the service I visited some of my friends at Mid Park when I was on leave in 1963. After leaving that visit I never saw any of my former classmates again. Over the years I have often thought of those years with fond rememberence. I am looking for yearbooks from both high schools from around the time of 60-64. Lately I have been feeling great pangs of nostalgia and wondered what happened to all the classmates I knew. I know this is a long e-mail but please bear with me. I will list a few of the people I remember from those days(I didnt see any listed on this web site.)I seem to recall that there were a lot of Wagners,Tom, Ed, Jerry and his sister Marilyn, Roger Bass, Cindy Rikyles, Marie Yokum, Janet Lictenberg, Janice Lambert, Carol Wronowski, Kathy Sparks, Kathy Williamson, Jackie Yacavella, George Potprocky. 1st Mini Reunion for the Southern Region of the BHS Class of '63 will be held Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-28) at my home in Winston-Salem, NC. Just wanted to say how happy I am to be back among the mid westerners. Lived in Houston 14 yrs and it was enough fer me! So, after learnin my ya'lls and fixen ta dos I now have to practice my "you guys". Paul and I met at Gilford Inst. in Oberlin while I worked there. After my husband Jim passed away, Paul invited me to visit about a year later. So I did and as they say the rest is history. We do a lot of traveling as Paul travels. He now has the east side of the Mississippi from Wisc. to Fla. We sold our home in Houston as it was much too big so we bought a 3-bedroom ranch on 4.5acres - go figure! Correction to In Memoriam r.e. Charlotte Trever. Accident happened on July 25, 2000. Here is the story:On July 21, 2000, my wife Charlotte and I drove to Pensacola, Florida for a family reunion with CharÌs relatives. The reunion was a success and Charlotte achieved closure for several family difficulties of the past. We visited some wonderful people that Char had not seen for up to 40 years. (After CharÌs father died when she was 9 years old, her mother alienated herself from their relatives and told Char that they did not care about her). She learned on this trip that her mother had a large brain tumor when she died after hitting a horse with her car. This information enabled Char to forgive her mother for past abuses, both physical and mental. Char was also assured that she was very loved by her aunts and uncles. As a result, she was happy and at peace with herself for the first time in many years. On our return trip, at approximately 0130 July 25, 2000 we were struck head-on by a truck driving on the wrong side of the freeway I-20 at mile marker 128 near Greensboro, GA. The time from seeing the vehicle to being struck was less than half a second÷ quite literally in the Ïblink of an eyeÓ. I am terribly sorry to report that Char was killed instantly. Both airbags deployed and my seatbelt harness fractured my right clavicle, cracked several ribs on my left side, and ruptured my spleen (detected after I returned to New Bern). Char was driving, as she tends to get car sick as a passenger. We were both alert, (having stopped for gas only 90 minutes earlier), but apparently approaching the crest of a small incline. I only remember seeing running lights on the approaching vehicle, and, perhaps, very dim headlights. I will never know for sure, unless we get reports from an eye witness trucker that notified the police via CB radio that a truck was driving the wrong way on the I-20 freeway. The local deputy sheriffs and a state trooper had tried to catch up with the vehicle to prevent this tragedy. They were on the scene within 45 seconds of the accident. The trooper said we never had a chance and Char was definitely not at fault. The deputy sheriff also told me that he had never seen Ïa seatbelt harness detach during a collisionÓ, but this turned out to be false information, as CharÌs seatbelt had been cut by the EMTs when they extracated her from the car. All that knew Char, knows what a kind, loving, and caring individual she was. She always thought of others before herself. Char and I are Ïsoul matesÓ, having crossed paths many times before finally meeting. We would have been married 16 years this coming December. Char was a strong believer in the spirit world and I know she is with me and her other loved ones. We had been discussing only three weeks before the accident, the importance of staying open to receiving signs from the Ïother sideÓ, should one of us pass. She had also hoped to pass before me. Unfortunately, she got her wish, all too soon. On July 25, 2000 around noon, Char sent me a sign. Although very personal, I wish to share this experience with all who read this, as it comforted me greatly. To understand the ÏsignÓ I will provide the background: Most of you know that I have rehabilitated orphaned or injured squirrels off and on over many years. My father brought me a stuffed squirrel when I was three years old on his return from the Holy Land in 1948, after photographing the first Dead Sea Scrolls. (My father had been away for almost a year). I have been enamored with squirrels ever since that day, and have collected all manner of squirrel ephemera since. Shortly after Char and I married, I went to a training class in Colorado and discovered a stuffed squirrel she had placed in my luggage, without my knowledge. Well, silly as it may seem, that squirrel has been with myself or both of us on all subsequent trips since. So you can imagine my surprise, when an EMT worker walked into my hospital room around noon the next day, bringing me the stuffed squirrel. It only took me a few moments to realize that was her sign she was with me, and that she was OK. Many people will not buy this interpretation, but I found it most comforting. Char and I had also been watching the very gifted and credible psychic, John Edward dealing with signs from the spirit world on TV, (SCI-FI channel at 11pm Sunday through Thursday EST), for two weeks prior to our trip. Regardless of what you believe, I feel that Char was prepared and at peace with herself prior to the accident. It is apparent that she did not suffer; and for that I am most grateful! There is another truly amazing, albeit in this case, coincidence, but it is as if she was prepared: In the hospital in GA I needed one item of clothing to travel home, as I couldnÌt put on regular pants. I asked my boss to try and find an old pair of sweat pants that I could ride home in. When I was picked up, I was told a pair would be looked for locally. I decided to double check my suitcase first (which one of CharÌs relatives had rescued from the vehicle, in the meantime). In my suitcase were 100% of my clothes and misc. items, except for one item alone: a pair of dark blue sweat pants belonging to Char, but which fit me perfectly! At the accident, both cars connected at the 11:00 position, so, apparently, Char tried to protect me at the last split second by turning the wheel to the right. She suffered the brunt of the crash as a result. Char was a gentle soul who touched the heart of all she knew. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. As Char was deaf, the art of communication in our marriage took center stage. I feel very blessed that I was able to have shared and experienced such a high quality life of 16 years with Char! This wonderful relationship will give me strength for the rest of my life. Char will make an exceptional guardian angel÷ of that I am sure! A memorial service (or two÷ one in Pensacola, FL and one local, if desired by her acquaintances) will be scheduled once I have healed from my own injuries. This is scary! I feel like I fell into the Twilight Zone. My daughter found my yearbook last week and started asking me questions, which started me reminiscing looking at pictures and names I hadn't thought of in years. That same week I discovered the website on highschools and decided to check it out for fun. I thought I might track down Mike Janosko, Gary Dean Cunningham, or Jim Stoessner; I had no idea I'd scare up all of you. I have a fourteen year old daughter and an eleven year old son; you guys are all talking about grandchildren!! Well, I always was a late bloomer. It would take some kind of reunion to cover all the water under this bridge. But wide ties and retro cars are coming around again, why not us...

I lived and grew up in the Middleburg Heights and Strongsville area. Currently, I reside in Richmond , Virginia where I own and operate a small food service company with contracts in Virginia, Georgia and California. I love coming back to read all the news from all the classmates. It's really fun to hear where everyone's adventures took them and about your children. The pics are fabulous! Would like to see more. Nancy Dean and June Hetler, are you two ever going to age??? They look better than they did in high school! Sue Adams not only hasn't changed, but managed to clone a son! He looks just like you Sue! Our oldest son got married this summer (finally) to Carina Howell, now Dr. Carina, and they moved to San Francisco. Some of the "girls" got together recently at Patty's, and we had a blast. I found an old piece of paper with this web site address and looked it up. Don't know why it didn't happen earlier. Really great to read the notes from long lost friends! So glad that so many are happy and doing well and so sad to hear of those that aren't. I'm still married to June Barrett (34 years) and we have 2 married children. Jeff is 29 and Jennifer is 26. Jennifer presented us with our first grandchild about 8 months ago and she has absolutely changed our lives. This, folks, is what it's all about! Still working for General Electric (31 years) which still requires some domestic and international traveling. Used to do alot but am slowing down a little. I get back to Berea frequently as both of my parents are still alive and still living there. Would like to meet with you "60 mile radius" people sometime to swap stories and memories. Hi Everyone, Although I have not kept up with anyone but the Eppersons over the years, it is great to be able to keep in touch through the website. I spend a good bit of time on the computer as I am wheelchair bound. I have MS and was diagnosed in 87 and its been down hill ever since. I medically retired from the government about 3 years ago, after 33 years service. Bill and I have 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Hi! Tim is working frantically on adding more pages to our website. So, be patient and give him a bit more time. I think he's still tweeking things a bit...... Had a great time the past few weeks visiting with old classmates, not to mention eating at some great places, but the company was the best part! Bucci's (owned by our very own Geneen T.) for dinner with Cindi Studebaker and her husband Paul Allen, Pomeroy House with Lunch with P. Gayle Gaydos, and Mapleside Farm Restaurant for dinner with Rich & Donna (Kusse) Elstun, and Tim Louis and his wife, Linda. Betty already hit the Breakfast.....Ideas are being thrown around for our 2003 reunion. The new museum Betty referred to is the new Resource Center that just opened in April at the Mahler Museum in Berea. Very nice. For local research and Genealogy enthusiasts.......July 8th..Potluck for CA area 63ers is on. If you are going to be in the area, give us a call and "Come on down!"

Hi, Everyone, I'll try again...I wrote about my jouney out West a week ago, then proceeded to (as my husband would say) press the wrong "tit" ...so my words are out in cyber space being read by Marsians !!! So ..I begin again...My teenage son and I had a great time with my dear old friends and fellow 63ers. First stop:Denver, and Candy and Joe Carrs awesome home ! Eclectic is what Candy calls it ....and in deed it is...eclecticly beautiful...full of pieces of art from around the world ..picked up by each of them together and, whenever possible, NOT together but with other friends on bike trips etc. And the Garden is a little bit of Heaven !!!! but the guests present were the BEST !! Paula and Sam Betty (Gensler) and "Frog" Sue Finefrock. Before, during and after a very fine dinner of Indian (in my honor due to my travels there) cuisine, we yaked and laughed alot...telling stories "out of school" about old jealousies and new adventures. After all was said and done it was decided that Candy would drive across country to Florida same time next year.."Frog and Paula have already signed up and there is plenty more room, so keep it in mind. As we drove away,heading West to California, My son said in wonder " Why are your friends so nice ??? They're all so nice and FUN.." What can I say ?? Thank you Candy and Joe for a wonderful, wonderful time and can't wait 'till next year !!!! On to LA and a Champagne Brunch with Patty and Joel Epperson, June Hetler and Commander Jim McMurray and his beautiful bride, Debbie. Spoke of the situation the LAPD has found it's self in and heard from the guy in "the know"..our own McMurray...George Romaine the other half of June was in Washington DC at the time so we were fortunate enough to here the inside scoop on all his carrings on in the "old days" and when speaking of Sue Finefrocks nick name of "Frog", June accredited George with bestowing that "handle" although it was said in fun and we wouldn't want to give credit where it wasn't due. It was great fun and I hope they can all join us in Berea for our 4oth !!!!Speaking of which,Patty, have you spoken with Paula about the new museum in Berea ??? I just spoke with Dianne Winsper, on line, and she also mentioned an awareness of mine...not much activity on our site....letters ..we need letters...we need lots and lots of letters.la de da...all for now best to all..Betty

This is a great idea and I congratulate the class members who have the ability and time to set this up. Wish The Cleveland Institute of Art would do this. I was FOUND (actually didn't know I was lost) through the investigative efforts of Patty. She found me via my sister, Kris class of '61. I haven't been back to Berea since my parents moved out of state in '85. For the most part of the last 30 years I've lived in Europe and Asia. In '93 we were living in Vienna, Austria and from there transferred to Singapore, if one likes to shop Singapore is a paradise. In '98 transferred to NJ and in '99 transferred to Atlanta, Georgia. We found the older the children get the harder it is to move them. I have two daughters 19 and 17. My wife and I met in '77 while I was working for Philips Design in Eindhoven, Holland. Presently I'm working for Philips Design in Atlanta, wishing I could be back in Singapore or someplace out of Atlanta traffic. Culture shock! Regards, Gary Grimes

I could write a book about all that's happened to me since high school. My friends tell me it would be a best seller! I have a son 34 years old living in Virginia Beach where I lived for 17 years. Then off to the Carolinas. Until last year we lived in Charlotte and I worked in HR at Presbyterian Healthcare. One day I walked out of my office and straight into Betty Thompson!! Hadn't seen her, or anyone else since graduation! Denny and I were married 5 years ago and have a gorgeous 5 month old grandchild...it's so much more fun being a "Granny" than being a parent! I look forward to our 40th reunion...haven't been able to attend any of the others. How about those of us in the Carolinas getting together?

Ain't the Internet cool? A world-wide community of folks who graduated from two small schools, in a small suburb of a middle-sized city 37 years ago. We continue to live in the fair city of Alameda, on an island fifty yards off-shore from Oakland, with a lovely view of San Francisco across the Bay. Our daughter Jennifer, 29, lives in Arcata CA, a couple of hundred miles to the north, where she administers a Food Bank while her husband builds up his own business, Orchids for the People. Chris, 23, and his wife live about ten feet below us (downstairs in our home). He works with organic food ... how California can you get? Check out our web site at www.rishel.com. It's so great to check in every few weeks. We are a talkative bunch. Jim, I loved seeing the pics of Berea - really brought back memories. While my memory seems to fail me, I have some scattered vivid recollections of my Berea years. Ron Cate - I have a daughter who lives in Charlotte. I'd love to see you when I'm in the area - and if you're ever in Atlanta, give me a call. Phyllis Matthews is coming later this month and we plan to eat, drink and catch up. I love to hear about those of you who are doing what you love. I don't know about any of you young folk, but the thought of my next phase of life (don't like the word retirement) is very exciting. Hopefully it won't be so much about earning a living and will be more about fulfilling the dreams. I'm in the corporate world during the day and a mosaic artist at night (that means a gather cast off junk and glue it to other cast off stuff). I have been living in ARGENTINA for a little over a year now, with my husband, and will probably be here for another year or so. It's been REALLY interesting, but I have to say, very ISOLATING. We both went to Berlitz for total immersion in Spanish prior to coming here (Mr. Wilson would be PROUD :-)) but it is still a lot of WORK trying to speak the language, etc., and I can only HOPE I am not offending TOO MANY PEOPLE with my Spanish. Lo and behold: BHS-'63 has a web site! I've lost track, having not attended a class function since the 10 year reunion. Michelle graduated from Eastern Michigan University Magna Cum Laude in 97 and is working on her masters there. I was sorry to hear about losing 3 classmates, and probably there have been a lot more. This is a great idea. Although I have never attended a class reunion (except for dropping in on the picnic a few years ago), I am interesting in learning how life has been to you all. I will try to attend the next reunion. I am still married to my high school sweetheart (Dale B. Latulippe-Berea '62) and we have two married sons. Our youngest-Justin (25) married a woman with a 2.5 year old this summer and they just had a baby boy on Feb. 19. Our oldest, Michael will have his first child about June 21, so we have jumped into being grandparents with both feet this year. Dale and I both work at Western Michigan University. I am the director of the intensive English program for international students (this is my 16th year as director and I taught 8 years in the program before that). I love my job and I get to travel to many countries to recruit students as well as enjoy knowing them at home. Dale, with his master's degree in Blind Rehabilitation, runs the Low Vision Clinic here and teaches courses. Please drop me a line and let me know what is happening in your life, especially those of you who shared all the fun in Drama Club, Chorus, yearbook, and Student Council. Why is it that these activities ( and English with Mr. Hurley) are what I remember most about high school? Best wishes to the class of '63. Laura

I'm writing on behalf of my father, David Swade. He passed away in November of 1999 of pancreas cancer. He lived in Cleveland OH and worked for the US government up until the day before he died. He has three daughters who he got to walk down the aisle at their weddings, and four grand- daughter who he enjoyed very much. He was married for 32 years. Since I have regrets big time about my high school days, all my children participate big time. Those memories are everlasting, so one should make the most of them, I'm sorry I didn't. Hello to all. Was interested to read Bill Emley's comments about being the only one living within 60 miles of Berea. I think I've got him -- I'm living in Chagrin Falls; my mother is still in Berea and she comes out to help me garden frequently, and brings food too! I own a shop in Chagrin called Angels And Other Folk -- a combo of one-of-a-kind angels, folk art, gifts and antiques. Feels like my "perfect life." Maybe one of these days the shop will start being profitable. Great to see Betty Sandhoff's entries. I'll send a heads-up to Ginny Mellen who is out in the Bay area, so she knows about this site. My shop is in the same building as Wes Baker's office. It took us about a month to realize who the other was! I'm glad I look the same. He looks lots older! (OK Wes, your turn.)

Can't remember how I found out about the web page (that is happening a lot more now!) but glad that I did. I've been in LA 30+ years, all with LAPD, married the last 27, all to the same friend, 32 year old daughter (came w/marriage, better than anything I could have done) no grandkids dammit. Some of these names sound familiar but photos to go along with these messages sure would be nice. My brother (Berea '65) took my '63 yearbook. I finally got it back and then my dog ate half of it, so looking up pictures is kind of iffy. Brother recovered and is doing fine, dog is dead.

I have been reading the newest additions to our Web page and found it interesting that Las Vegas is being suggested for a reunion. I am currently there. It is a "happening place"! There is so much to do here. However the room occupancy here is almost 100% on the week-ends so we would need to plan ahead - like for 2003. It was great to read all the little notes. I was also disappointed that my money for the last reunion was returned. Am looking forward to our 40th!!!!! This is Amazing! It has been such a long time since I've heard many of the names on this site. My family and I have been living in San Diego for the past 23 years and would love to have anyone who comes this way visit us. i am in the travel industry so I do travel allot so maybe I can get in touch with some of you along the way. This web page is such a cool idea! Thanks to the person with the great idea! Bob and I are living in Richland, WA (the southeast DESERT part of the state).We'd love to have company--we're 4 hours from Seattle. We see June and George once in a while because we have a son living in their part of CA. Paula and Sam plan to stop by this summer on their way to the coast. Better late than never.. 1999 was a big year. Finished school forever, got married for the last time and married off the youngest child. WHEW!! As Paula, Sue (frog), and Candy will attest. I will reune anywhere, anytime. Like the mini-reunion thought for those of us on same sides of the country and anyone else looking for an excuse to travel. Also look forward to 2003. This is a great site!! Glad I finally got on. By the way John Rademaker, my oldest son lives in Los Altos so we are frequent visitors there. The best thing is that Mike Campbell came to visit with his son this past weekend. He looks exactly the same except for a little grey hair. We're still on the Pacific Coast though George spends most of his weekdays on the East Coast (Atlanta for 4 years but shifting up to D.C. in December).
